Brique a Braq is a dynamic compositional project by songwriter/producer/composer/instrumentalist Derek Mount (Club Danger, Vyceroy, Juno Kids/Former Family Force 5). Often minimal, the pieces resonate with fans of solo piano, post-rock, IDM, and ambient music. Brique a Braq songs have been employed by several creatives, receiving praise for their tendance profonde toward storytelling. Brique a Braq songs have been licensed in ads, films, and projects by Google, Nike, NPR, Subaru, BMW, Wells Fargo, and more. Mount has also co-written 8 #1 hits and 15 top-10 hits across various Billboard charts, and creatively contributes to releases in pop, rock, indie, funk, modern classical, and electronic music. Each Brique a Braq release is birthed out of a self-imposed set of boundaries, including limited track-counts and no quantization. The 2020 album, Fauve was well received, with each piece titled in honor of a prominent artist in the avant-garde movement. The dreamy "Charmy" was featured in Musicbed's best of 2019 playlist, while the vibrant "Vauxcelles" was also included in the best of 2020 edition. Rubrik, a recent collaboration with composer Chris Bartels, was included on the official Piano Day playlist. Both artists also contributed to the sopoforic score of Illustrated - Original Music Soundtrack, a peaceful puzzle game.
