Biography & Metadata
Sagol 59 is widely recognized as the Godfather of Israeli Hip-Hop, a revered lyricist and a versatile singer and instrumentalist. Since his 2000 debut, Sagol has performed extensively in Israel as well as in Europe and the U.S. Since 2017 Sagol has been teaching at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. Sagol's 2011 album, Another Passenger, was a surprising diversion from the Hip Hop genre, focusing on Blues, Rock & Folk, all sung in Hebrew, featuring an impressive list of guests. Among his ongoing activities in the Hip Hop field, Sagol found time to release the acclaimed Grateful Dead Hebrew tribute album The Promised Land. Sagol followed the album's release with a series of concert tours both in Israel and across the U.S. In 2019, Sagol returned to his Hip Hop roots with the album "Pirkei Avot" (Veteran Joints), produced by some of Israel's most acclaimed beatmakers and featuring a stellar cast of guest M.Cs. In 2021, Sagol released "The Father, The Son and The Mayor", the first ever album by an Israeli rapper to be released as a vinyl LP. 2023 saw the release of another acclaimed album, Millennial Dinosaur, featuring top-notch productions and esteemed featured artists. The album was issued on vinyl through Kame'a music. In 2025, to celebrate 25 years of musical activity, Sagol released "Lost Bars" a compilation of rare tracks and collaborations, alongside two E.Ps: "Bars Only" and "59420", featuring some of Israel's most acclaimed producers and MCs.
