José Luis Perales

Spanish singer/songwriter José Luis Perales started getting involved in music at a very young age, playing lute and composing for the first time at the age of 16. While living in Sevilla, attending electronic classes at Universidad Laboral, José Luis Perales was captivated by songwriting, getting a record deal in 1970 after meeting Rafael Trabucelli from Hispavox. A song called "Por Qué Te Vas," performed by Jeanette, became his first hit. Later, debuting as a singer with "Celos De Mi Guitarra," a major local success, soon climbing on the most important charts throughout Latin America with romantic ballads such as "Te quiero", "¿Y cómo es él?" or "Me llamas". Perales also wrote one of the biggest anthems of personal freedom, "Un velero llamado libertad" wich had a special meaning in the post-Franco Spanish society. In 2019 Perales released "Mirándote a los ojos" a compilation of new recordings of his classic hits. Jose Luis Perales is widely considered one of the most talented songwriters in Spanish music and he has also composed for artists such as Miguel Bosé or Paloma San Basilio"
