Ellroy

Ellroy (Leuven, Belgium) is the moniker for Berlin based artist and producer Wim Janssens (Golden Hours , Joy Wellboy, Tricky ,…) In Ellroy's music, new wave, blues, post punk, and country meet electronic elements and experimental rhythms that create an individual universe far from pop’s arbitrary boundaries. There’s an eagerness to experiment and a love for all things analog, and while his work defies categorization, there’s always Wim’s baritone to tie it all together. After the “Lost Tapes Pt. 1-3” series in 2023-24 and last year’s “Everything Is Broken “, Ellroy continues his string of releases with the EP “Between Faith And Medicine ” (23.04.26 Yoro Moon Records). This six-song cycle emerges from a place of solitude. It’s a short meditation on love, loss, and redemption. The album catches Ellroy singing over sparse backing tracks that, through repetition, lure the listener into a turmoil of longing. Balancing on a cord that links Nick Cave , Kurt Wagner with 60’s icon Scott Walker, the songs create a unique path like a river through the desert of song. In September 2026, Ellroy will release the last edition of the ‘Lost Tapes’ series, a full album called “Vampire At Your Door (Lost Tapes Pt.4) ” (2001-2004). https://wimjanssens.com
