Biography & Metadata

Plastic Tree was formed in December 1993 by Ryutaro Arimura and Tadashi Hasegawa. Through an active live performance schedule, they steadily built a dedicated fanbase and made their major debut in June 1997 with the single "Wareta Mado". Their distinctive artistic world quickly drew attention, and their music spans a wide range of styles—from aggressive guitar-driven rock to more melodic, pop-oriented sounds. Their unique aesthetic has resonated beyond Japan, earning them international recognition, which led to a world tour in July 2006, proving their ability to perform on a global stage. In September 2007, the band successfully celebrated the 10th anniversary of their major debut with a sold-out performance at Nippon Budokan. They returned for a second Budokan show on August 30, 2009, which was also met with great success. Continuing to gain momentum, Plastic Tree stands as a pioneering rock band within the neo-visual scene.
