Biography & Metadata

Bergi makes music for the moments that are difficult to put into words. His compositions live somewhere between neoclassical piano, ambient music and cinematic minimalism, built from fragile melodies, silence, repetition and the imperfect textures of real instruments. Born in Montevideo, but lived most of his life in Madrid, Spain, Bergi’s musical world carries traces of places both real and remembered. Piano sits at its centre, but guitars, strings and subtle electronic elements frequently enter the frame, expanding small musical ideas into something more atmospheric. Rather than chasing complexity, his work is often about reduction—finding how little a piece needs before it begins to say something. There is a strong visual instinct behind his music. Photography, landscape, astronomy, memory and the natural world repeatedly find their way into his compositions, sometimes becoming the starting point for an entire record. A distant coastline, the recurrence of an eclipse, the disappearance of a species, the accidental marks left on a piece of paper—small observations can become musical worlds of their own.
