Biography & Metadata

Cris Cap creates warm, soulful and cinematic pop — blending nostalgic grooves with modern production and telling stories about love, youth, memory and the scale of human emotion. A singer-songwriter, pianist and producer from Germany, Cap began playing piano at seven and soon fell in love with artists such as Steely Dan and Toto. Buying his first Fender Rhodes in 1985 and playing in bands shaped his musical identity, alongside a successful career as a TV director. Since 2020, Cris Cap has released a series of singles that gained international blog attention and streaming success. Songs such as “Lonely Girl”, “Gone Too Soon” and “She’s A Mystery” established his mix of groove, emotion and musical craftsmanship. His songs draw on love, memory, youth and longing. A new chapter begins with “Back to California,” out October 2. Inspired by the months Cap spent in Southern California as a teenager, the song looks back on a lifelong West Coast dream and the road not taken. Cap now sings his own songs, bringing the stories closer to the person who lived them. He is also working more closely with musician friends on guitar, bass, drums, backing vocals and horns, adding more live interaction, spontaneity and human feel to the recordings.
