Biography & Metadata

Alcazar is Sweden’s premier disco export and a global dance-pop powerhouse. Formed in 1998 by producer Alexander Bard and singer Andreas Lundstedt, the group was soon completed by Tess Merkel and Annikafiore. Together, they redefined the modern dance floor by fusing a sophisticated 20th-century disco aesthetic with contemporary pop. Their international breakthrough came in 2001 with the multi-platinum single "Crying at the Discotheque." Sampling French icon Sheila’s "Spacer," the track conquered European charts and became a defining anthem of the era. This success was followed by their debut album Casino and hits like "Sexual Guarantee," "This Is The World We Live In," and "Physical," solidifying their status with over 12 million albums sold worldwide. In Sweden they had a string of hits with "Not A Sinner Nor A Saint" and "Alcastar. In 2007, the group entered a new chapter with the addition of Lina Hedlund. This era saw Alcazar dominate the Swedish charts through the Melodifestivalen stage with iconic hits such as "Stay The Night," and "Blame It On The Disco." Beyond the studio, Alcazar’s legendary showmanship led to the sold-out residency "Disco Defenders" (2015–2017). After celebrating 20 years of explosive success with a final arena tour in 2018, the group announced a split up. Andreas Lundstedt is still active on major stages around the world representing the legacy of his group.
