OG Mage

Samuel Ogaba “OG Mage”, is an Afro-fusion artist blending hip-hop lyricism with Afrobeats rhythms. He began in university with the rap group IHN (In His Name) under WWJD, later leading it until graduation. His career took off in 2021 after meeting a music exec at the airport. That same year, he moved from Lagos to Abuja and released his debut EP, Alter Ego, in September. Seeking to refine his sound, he underwent two years of vocal training, merging melodies with his rap roots. In November 2021, he attended a UK writing camp, gaining backstage access to Wizkid’s O2 Arena show. There, he recorded Anthem Ready with Teek and Stynezy, which became a hit in Abuja and Bournemouth, where he also shot his first video. In 2022, he joined Hennessy Artistry, where he met Manny Tseayo. Together, they created Beggin’, a standout on Up to No Good. His breakout moment came with “The Capital” featuring Reeplay, which became an anthem in Abuja, cementing his presence on major radio stations. He followed up with Hot Boy and Head of State featuring Geezyshore. Released on Democracy Day 2023, earning him the alias “Head of State” and was followed by a music video on Independence Day. OG Mage has shared stages with Rema, Davido, Cavemen, Buju, Blaqbonez, and PsychoYP. In 2024, he headlined his first show with Meat & Greet, featuring a surprise performance by Odumodublvck and the Anti-World Gangsters. A cultural bridge between hip-hop and Afrobeats, OG Mage continues to push boundaries.
