Biography & Metadata

Skyko is a producer/multi-instrumentalist working out of his home studio in the once majestic & beautiful Los Angeles, California In his own words, “I am trying to bring new music into the world that encompasses little bits from various musical styles. I am most interested in creating Synthwave/Retrowave with rock and classical overtones, mostly because the instruments I excel at tend to lead me in each particular direction. I’ve also been heavily influenced by 80s bands like Depeche Mode, Front 242, Rush, and Van Halen. I never fell into the trap of listening to only one particular style, and that's most likely why my tastes and range are so extensive”. Skyko first began taking private violin lessons in Pennsylvania at age eight. It wasn’t long before he started picking up other instruments, spending countless hours learning to play the guitar, drums, and keyboard. In ’84, he packed up his guitar and a couple of changes of clothes and headed West to LA. Around 1986, Skyko landed a job as a runner at the famous Cherokee Recording Studios, and it wasn’t long until he worked his way up and was offered a position as assistant engineer. By working with some of the top names in the record business, he soon learned many tricks of the trade. Skyko expanded his musical horizons into electronic dance music while living in London and frequenting “The Ministry of Sound” and other groundbreaking clubs throughout Europe, such as the “iT Club” in Amsterdam and “Velfarre” in Tokyo.
