Biography & Metadata
Satya makes music that feels like a late-night drive through your memories—warm, reflective, and a little raw. Raised in Oakland, she blends soul, alt-R&B, and dreamy textures into something uniquely her own: soft but grounded, emotional without being performative. Her songs feel like honest conversations with yourself—the kind you don’t always say out loud. With tender vocals, minimalist production, and layered harmonies, Satya carves out space for stillness, feeling, and release. Her 2022 EP Deep Blue captures that spirit. The closing track, “Checker Print Kitchen,” evokes childlike joy and emotional grounding. “It’s a reminder of the feelings we can always return to, even when life gets rough,” she says. “That kind of free expression helps me process the harder stuff.” Satya’s debut EP, Flourish Against Fracture (2019), marked the beginning of her national rise. Her single “Oakland,” from Deep Blue, was featured on KCRW’s Today’s Top Tune and championed by Ebro Darden on Apple Music. Influenced by artists like Aretha Franklin, Mazzy Star, and Sade, Satya brings an introspective edge to soul storytelling. Her latest single, Mine (2025), signals a new chapter— It was featured on KALW and selected as NPR Live Sessions’ Song of the Day, continuing her exploration of stripped-back, emotionally resonant sound. With more music on the horizon, Satya is steadily building a world all her own—one soft, powerful step at a time.
