DMac Burns - stage name of singer-songwriter Danny McDonald - is a New York–born, Irish-rooted reggae artist bringing a fresh transatlantic energy to the genre. Blending classic roots reggae with modern influences from hip hop and soul, his sound is both timeless and forward-thinking. Built on conscious messages, smooth melodies, and undeniable groove, the songs speak for themselves. Spending his early childhood in Queens, and then growing up in the Bronx, DMac was shaped by the wide array of culture that New York City has to offer. After moving to West Cork, Ireland later in life he met keyboardist and dub-specialist Matías Saldivia who hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The two bonded over the fact that they were city boys living in rural Ireland with a shared love for roots reggae and dub. Over the next few years they spent most of their time writing, recording, and refining a live set that features many styles played over a backbone of dub reggae. They can be found gigging as a two piece (looping and live dubbing bass, keys, guitar, vocals and melodica over beat samples from world class drummers) or alongside a full band. Some notable collaborations include songs with the multi-platinum UK brass powerhouse, Sam And The Womp, UK MC Natty Campbell, and U.S. reggae royalty Josh Heinrichs, as well as the Light Dub EP which features dub remixes from legendary reggae producer, musician, and Easy Star Records artist, Victor Rice.
