Kaminata

My name is João Caminata and I am a piano composer from Madeira, Portugal. The piano only appeared in my life in my early 20's. Before that there was hip-hop, indie and rock. I grew up listening to artists like Linkin Park, The Fray, Simple Plan, Eminem.. In fact, I really wanted to be a rapper. I spent hours just memorizing lyrics and singing and feeling I was 'cool'. After giving up on becoming the best hip-hop artist ever (for now) , I started to learn piano by watching videos on Youtube and soon started to compose and release my own songs. I also release ambient/new age music under the name Takanama Maki. This project came from my love of nature since childhood. Now as an adult going outside and recording the sound of rain or birds and actually use it for my music is quite a fun experience. 'I am love. I am life. I am the expression of everything and nothing. I am the shadow casted by the light, and the light itself. I am the leaf hanging on the branches of the tree, and the very same roots that anchor it to the earth. I am positive. I am energy. I solely, yet utterly, am.' João Caminata
