Biography & Metadata
The Kools are an independent alternative rock duo shaped by basement recordings, self-production and a stripped-down approach to songwriting. Their debut album, Dead Serious (2021), established the band’s basic language: garage rock and blues pushed through flashes of grunge and stoner rock, with fuzzy guitars, heavy drums and arrangements that stayed close to the immediacy of their live sound. With The Process (2024), that sound turned darker and more severe. Heavier riffs, murkier atmospheres and a rougher vocal edge gave the record a more claustrophobic character, while preserving the minimalism and sense of space that define the duo. Their third album, The Missing Piece (2026), brings a different kind of expansion. Rather than abandoning the raw rock sound of the earlier records, The Kools place it alongside a looser, jazz-inflected side of the band, allowing both worlds to coexist within the same album. The result is less a departure than a widening of the palette: distortion and weight on one side, groove, space and more fluid arrangements on the other.
