Biography & Metadata
Moyses Dos Santos is a Brazilian bassist, composer and producer. His debut album “Maria” marks a homecoming for the London-based musician; drawing from his North East Brazilian roots while assembling an international cast of collaborators including legendary Brazilian arranger Arthur Verocai, US jazz trumpeter Theo Croker, and London-based vocalist Lynda Dawn. After relocating from Brazil to London in the early 2000s, Moyses quickly became one of the city’s most in-demand bassists, travelling the world and sharing stages, studios, and writing credits with Nile Rodgers, Janelle Monáe, Emeli Sandé, Gregory Porter, Omar, and fellow Brazilian jazz masters Azymuth. On Maria, (named after his mother) Moyses Dos Santos explores the musical vocabularies of his youth: from the soul of the church band where he cut his teeth, to the samba, maracatu and baião jams of his teenage years. The album represents the bridging of his two musical worlds: the rich, rhythmic heritage of Brazil's Northeast and the cosmopolitan energy of London's contemporary jazz scene. With impeccable style, charisma and virtuosity, Moyses steps forward and takes centre stage, with his stunning debut Maria: out on vinyl, LP, CD and digitally 12th June 2026.
