Count Bassy

Chris Boronad aka Count Bassy is originally from sunny Marseille, France. But it’s in London in 2010 where is musical career really began when he founded the live drum’n’bass band Double Drop with Jim Macrae (Jordan Rakei, Leifur James) on the drums, James McKone (Hollie Cook, General Roots) on bass and Homay Schmitz (Spitfire Audio) on keys. After some successful releases and tours with the band he launched his solo career in 2015, initially as a DJ, under Count Bassy. That saw him perform at some of the greatest music festivals on the planet including Glastonbury (UK), Afrikaburn (SA), and Exit Festival (RS). Since then he has featured as an artist and producer on a number of tracks across genres such as jungle (with Natty Campbell), world fusion (with Hippo Sound System and S.I.M.O) and most recently Hip-Hop/Grime (with Studio Cat). He now works from his recording studio in the south of France and focuses most of his creative output on his first love, Reggae! Notable collaborations include releases with the mighty Prince Fatty with Count Bassy on melodica and his most recent track Bubble and Whine with multi-platinum selling and Number One UK act 'Sam & The Womp' out now on Cherry Red Records.
