Biography & Metadata

MOMO. is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist and songwriter based in London. Across eight albums and two decades, his music has developed a singular take on Brazilian music, moving freely between MPB, psychedelia, folk, jazz and experimental pop. His latest album, Tum Tum Tum (2026), has received some of the strongest international attention of his career, with a feature in SPIN, a four-star review from MOJO, coverage from PopMatters and Atwood Magazine, and support from NPR Alt.Latino, KCRW, FIP and BBC Radio 2. Recorded largely live in London, Tum Tum Tum features Brazilian icon Marcos Valle, Nina Miranda of Smoke City and jazz trombonist Rosie Turton. Sung in Portuguese and English, the record brings together Brazilian song, psychedelia, jazz, folk and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. MOMO.’s catalogue stretches back to his 2006 debut A Estética do Rabisco. His work has attracted recognition from David Byrne and Patti Smith, and he contributed to A Tribute to Caetano, celebrating Caetano Veloso. Having toured across Europe and the US, MOMO. continues to make music that moves naturally between Brazil and the wider independent international scene. As NPR once described him, he is “an artist who transcends place.”
