Mnqobi Yazo

Mnqobi Lindokuhle Msimango, who is popularly known as Mnqobi Yazo is a 32 year old musician born and raised in the rural Kwazulu- Natal village called Maphumulo. Mnqobi Yazo has a extensive experience in the entertainment industry – he is a man of many talents which include Acting (Theatre and Film), Voice Over and what he is most known for which is composing, producing, writing and performing music. Mnqobi’s love for music began when he was a young boy in Grade 4 where started to rapper and then a year later, in Grade 5 he joined Isicathamiya School Group, where he they participated in competitions and won numerous awards for Best Isicathamiya Group. When he got to High School he stopped singing because people didn’t know he’s music talent and hadn’t really discovered himself and gained enough confidence. But, at the of 16 in Grade 10 he met someone that helped him discover his talent and made him realise that he can actually sing. He then started looking for people to produce his songs and with no avail he began to teach himself how to produce using computer software Frooty Loops. After high school he joined Creative Arts College where he got to experiment with different artforms and learn more about himself as he went through a path of self-discover. During this time he started listening to Isicathamiya, Afro Jazz and Maskandi and combined all those different genres t with modern popular music to create his own genre and style as the Mnqobi Yazo fans know and love today.
