Biography & Metadata

Colin Yates has spent 40 years playing music for the love of it. Now in his late 40s, he decided it was time to share it with the world. By day, he pilots a Gulfstream G550 across the globe — a career that has taken him everywhere and given him a songwriter's eye for the places, people, and moments that make a life worth living. Raised in California on classic rock and the Beatles, and drawn to country music for its honesty, its storytelling, and the values behind it, Colin writes songs that pull from both worlds: melodic, cinematic, and always grounded in something real. His debut catalog is built from lived experience. "California Night" is a love letter to the state he's called home his whole life — the coastline, the golden hour, the feeling of being exactly where you belong. "You and Niagara Falls" is the story of a road trip with his wife, a rented car out of Ohio, mist rising off the falls, and a few nights that reminded him why the best adventures are the ones you share. "Ready for a Change" goes somewhere harder — the struggles he's faced, the demons he's fought, and the decision to rise from the ashes and keep going. He wants that song to move people. It will. More music is coming — songs about the road, the sky, the people he loves, and every real moment in between. This is what a lifetime of living sounds like. Follow along.
