Biography & Metadata
Akın Sevgör makes electronic music that refuses to be only electronic. Since the early 2010s, the Ankara-born composer has been building a sound where patient, minimal electronics meet the melodic memory of Anatolia. By the time the Turkish press named him the strongest voice of a generation finally giving electronic music the respect it deserved, he had become one of the most influential electronic artists to come out of the country. His 2016 debut Arsnova set the template. Its track “Vanity Corner” became the opening theme of Fi, one of the defining Turkish series of its era. Around and beyond the records, he has written for film, television and theatre. 2024’s Reveries turned inward and older, drawing on the Anatolian pastoral tradition. In 2025, he was among the composers of Eugene Jarecki’s The Six Billion Dollar Man, the Julian Assange documentary that premiered at Cannes, won the L’Œil d’or, and went on to receive the first Golden Globe ever awarded to a documentary. Heavywave (2026) is his sharpest turn. It treats cyberpunk not as an aesthetic but as a forecast, mapping the feelings that now pass for everyday life. It is the first release on Origin Unit, the label he founded to put out music like his on its own terms. Across all of it runs a conviction he has held from the start: that electronic music is not a genre apart but the instrument of its time. Until something bigger than electricity comes along, as he once put it, that is not going to change.
