Biography & Metadata
Gautier Capuçon is one of the foremost cello ambassadors in the 21st century. An exclusive recording artist with Erato/Warner Classics, his discography includes chart-topping albums such as Émotions, Sensations, and Destination Paris. Recent releases feature concertos by Elgar and Walton with Antonio Pappano and the London Symphony Orchestra, and Gaïa (2025), a bold collection of new works by Max Richter, Bryce Dessner, Ludovico Einaudi, Joe Hisaishi, Gabriela Montero, and others, inspired by the earth. Acclaimed both as a soloist with the world’s leading orchestras and as a chamber musician alongside artists including Martha Argerich, Yuja Wang, and his brother Renaud Capuçon, he also devotes himself to education through the Fondation Gautier Capuçon, supporting outstanding young musicians. He performs on a 1701 Matteo Goffriller cello, known as The Ambassador.
