Chris Rusin

Born in Kansas, raised among the lakes & forests of Minnesota, & now living at the edge of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Chris Rusin makes indie folk music rooted in wild places, hard-won hope, and true stories. For Rusin, songwriting has always been about life on a tangled path. It’s about the quiet battles we all fight to understand where we come from, reckon with what shaped us, & ultimately decide who we are and what we stand for. “If we’re lucky we make it through with some love & grace,” says Chris. When chemo temporarily took away his ability to sing, Rusin made a vow that if he got his voice back he’d stop waiting and put everything he had into those songs. Coming out the other side of cancer, Chris made good on that promise releasing, Songs From A Secret Room, in 2025. Though released 100% independently, the album found grassroots support, surpassing a million listens and reaching the Top 10 on the FAI charts. Critics took notice. The Indie Grid called it, “a quiet masterpiece.” Americana Highways praised his “ hushed rustic arrangements and dazzlingly, tight raw vocal harmonies.” B-Side Guys called Rusin, “a masterful guitar player in many styles,” while Obscure Sound celebrated Rusin’s “riveting songwriting.” Heading through 2026 into 2027, Chris will be putting out carefully crafted tunes.
