Biography & Metadata
Sounds from the woods, and for the woods. Lucid Movements is a sonically experimental and creatively ambitious ambient album by Emerald Ancients, the analog-tape-heavy moniker of Minnesota multi-project artist Chris Bartels, who writes a variety of styles under a variety of monikers, including Elskavon, Blurstem, Olma, Hi-Fi Cali, Bora York, Glass Echoes, and Mum Child. Drawing profound inspiration from the evocative and complex poetry of T.S. Eliot, the album translates Eliot's themes of existential angst, spiritual desolation, and longing for redemption into a rich auditory experience. Created in the studio using a variety of innovative techniques such as pitching and warping, granular synthesis, and analog tape experiments, Lucid Movements is an immersive journey into the emotional and intellectual depths of Eliot’s poetic universe.
