Omoghéné

Omoghéné is a singer, songwriter, and recording artist who is pressed on challenging conventional thinking. The Urhobo name “Omoghéné” is translated in English as “God’s Child.” It is a constant reverence to God and honors the Nigerian background of her parents. Omoghene’s range is shown through the versatility of her musical style. Since her debut in 2019, she has been shaking up the indie music scene with her eclectic sound, vocal versatility, and bubbly personality. She blends the genres of neo soul, R&B, with a pop twist to showcase her church upbringing and Nigerian-American roots pioneering her own sound. But there is more to her than meets the artistic eye. “I may not be what you think when you see me” she sings, expressing her constant battle with being herself despite society’s standards of image, size, race, and art. Yet, she creates her own narrative by trailblazing difficult cultural and societal conversations through her music.
