Biography & Metadata

Crystal Clear is the drum & bass alias of Andy Haeffele, a producer and DJ with decades at the forefront of the UK underground. Emerging via Playaz Recordings under DJ Hype in the early 2000s, he built a reputation for high-impact, dancefloor-driven releases and global touring. Breakthrough success came with “Itzalot” (feat. Stapleton), supported by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, followed by “Levels,” named a “Jam Hot Record” by MistaJam. This led to the Universal Music-signed crossover project Major Look. Expanding creatively, Andy later explored techno as Melody’s Enemy, releasing on respected labels. In 2022, he returned to drum & bass with “Divide & Conquer” on Sofa Sound Bristol, his first release in over a decade, followed by the Full Circle EP. “Puppet Man” (with Codebreaker) was selected as Mary Anne Hobbs’ “Near Future” track on BBC Radio 6 Music. Momentum surged through 2024 with standout EPs on Sauce Recordings, Love For Low Frequencies and Thirty One Recordings, including the chart-topping Madhouse EP. In 2025, releases on Playaz, RUN and V Recordings continued the streak, with Selector EP and “Earthquake” hitting No.1. In 2026, the Set It Up EP on V Recordings also reached No.1, cementing his consistency. Alongside production success, Crystal Clear remains a global DJ fixture, performing at major events and continuing to shape the drum & bass scene.
