Em9

Em9 is the world music project of Spanish producer and composer Joel López. Built around the warmth of the nylon-string guitar, his music blends Latin American rhythms, Mediterranean influences, organic percussion, traditional wind instruments, field recordings, and subtle electronic textures. The name comes from the E minor ninth chord—a recurring musical signature that captures the project’s intimate, dreamy, and slightly mysterious character. Moving between acoustic storytelling and contemporary production, Em9 creates instrumental music that feels both rooted in tradition and open to exploration. His EP Animals was submitted for consideration at the Latin Grammy Awards.
