John Phelps

For John Phelps, genre is not a boundary but a medium. An artist in the truest sense, Phelps views his sonic output as a rotating gallery of expression. Ranging from the visceral intensity of Harsh Noise to the swirling atmospheres of Psychedelic Rap. His discography serves as a map of these explorations, highlighted by the 2020 release of “John”, which marked a definitive chapter in his evolving creative narrative. With an approach that masterfully bridges the gap between a rugged DIY philosophy and high-gloss crossover appeal. Phelps strikes a balance of grit and melody that feels both intentional and effortless. Yielding from Providence Rhode Island, a city renowned for a legacy of diverse & prominent artists who defy easy categorization, Phelps carries forward the Providence tradition of fearless experimentation and relentless independence.
