Marie Saintonge

Canadian-Brazilian flutist, composer, producer, and educator Marie Saintonge has built a career defined by cultural diversity and musical fusion. Her mission is to build bridges between cultures, creating dialogues that celebrate global differences. In 2004, she released her first album, La Storia, blending Argentine and Brazilian rhythms. Since then, Marie has become a prominent voice in world fusion music, collaborating with artists such as Rommel , and Rodrigo Simões. Her search for new sounds led her to Los Angeles, where she studied world flutes with Pedro Eustache and took part in productions like Frequency Peace at the Skirball Cultural Center. In 2010, she released Hawazone, created between Los Angeles and Montréal. From 2011 to 2013, she worked as a composer and flutist at the One&Only Palmilla resort in Baja California. Between 2013 and 2014, Marie immersed herself in the world of the Bansuri—the traditional Indian bamboo flute—while collaborating with Young Musicians for the World, dedicated to childhood education through music. A pivotal turn came in 2015, when she arrived in Northeast Brazil and met percussionist Cícero Pará, her husband and musical partner, heir to a lineage of Afro-Brazilian samba musicians. Now based in Ceará, Marie explores the rich landscapes of this region.
