Biography & Metadata
Manchester-based producer, DJ, and label owner Josh Baker makes fluid, groove-heavy tracks drawing from house, techno, and electro. He runs You&Me Records, founded the Hide&Seek Festival, and launched SYNTHO, an online learning community for electronic musicians. Releasing material since the late 2010s, he began reaching larger audiences with several singles during the following decade, including 2024's "Something to Me" and "Bass Up to the Top." 2025 brought other successes such as "Back It Up" (with Omar+) and "You Don't Own Me" (with Prospa and RAHH), as well as the EP Come Closer. Josh Baker began curating You&Me events in 2015, and released several EPs by the end of the decade, including the tech-house record Something for the Terrace (2017) and the electro-leaning Some Broken Bass (2019). Scratchcard Luck, the first release on You&Me Records, appeared shortly before Baker held the first Hide&Seek Festival. Soon after, he launched SYNTHO, which started off as a platform for music instructional videos, and later expanded into an interactive learning hub, connecting users from around the world. Baker remained active, issuing material on You&Me and other labels like Ovnie and Constant Black, while he continued showcasing minimal and tech-house acts at the annual Hide&Seek Festival. In 2024, he signed with the Sony-distributed Three Six Zero Recordings and began issuing singles such as "Something to Me" (interpolating SWV's "Weak") and "Misleading" (written and sung by Bianca Nieddu), while the Technotronic-referencing "Jam Is Pumping" appeared on You&Me. In 2025, he released "Back It Up" (with Omar+), as well as other collaborations like "You Don't Own Me" (with Prospa and RAHH), "Leave a Message" (with Poppy Wright and Trick Shady), and "Dr Feel Right" (with the Egyptian Lover and Rome Fortune). Baker's Come Closer EP featured guest appearances by Sienna Sophia and Lily McKenzie. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
