Biography & Metadata

Just Jinger formed in Gauteng in 1994 and spent the next three decades soundtracking a generation of South Africans. Their debut, All Comes Round, arrived in 1997 and went double platinum, one of the best selling rock albums in South African history. Shallow Waters, Stand In Your Way and Like You Madly became songs people still sing back word for word. Here's to You followed in 1999, then Strange World, then a move to the United States, where they were signed by Mike Curb to Curb Records and the name became Just Jinjer. What He Means, She Knows, Safer and Time of Your Life come from those years. Fronted by songwriter Ard Matthews, the band never really stopped. Everything Since Then landed in 2015. In 2022 they rebuilt Shallow Waters for its 25th anniversary alongside Arno Carstens, Karen Zoid, Kurt Darren, Francois van Coke and Ross Learmonth. 2026 marks thirty years, and they are marking it with the Last Time Round tour, including indigo at The O2 in London on 25 November with special guest Jesse Clegg. A rare chance to hear this catalogue live in the UK, and possibly the last in this form.
