MOREKI ( Kagiso Moreki) is a South African award-winning music producer, DJ, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and film scorer, known for his versatility across multiple genres, including Amapiano, Gwijo, Afro Soul, Afro-house (3-Step), and cinematic soundscapes. MOREKI won the Miami Indie Film Award for Best Composer and received a SAFTA 19 nomination for his work in film composition, establishing himself as one of South Africa’s rising creative talents. He is widely recognized for his work on the Orlando Pirates BucsCamp Documentary soundtrack, where his Gwijo-inspired compositions helped shape the documentary’s emotional identity and resonated with football fans across South Africa. Driven by a vision to redefine football music, MOREKI is pioneering a sound he calls “New Age Gwijo” a modern interpretation of traditional Gwijo that blends contemporary production with South African football culture, creating anthems that unite supporters and celebrate the passion of the beautiful game. Throughout his career, MOREKI has collaborated with Mafikizolo, MaWhoo, Nkosazana Daughter, and other leading South African artists, while continuing to compose for film, television, documentaries, and commercial productions. Whether in the studio, on stage, or behind the scenes of a film, MOREKI remains committed to pushing African music forward through innovation, authenticity, and world-class production.
