Biography & Metadata

Younger Brother is Simon Posford and Benji Vaughan — two producers whose work together has shaped electronica’s more imaginative edges since they first collaborated in the early 2000s. Three albums on Twisted Records earned them a global cult following for music that refuses to sit still, the two pulling each other into territory neither would reach alone. Their fourth album is Mutually Assured Distraction — the first full-length release in over a decade. The title reframes the Cold War doctrine for a different kind of stalemate: a Digital Summer of mindless overstimulation rather than a Nuclear Winter. Across nine tracks, the album moves from the haunting opener “I Belong to Nowhere” through to the closing “Endless Drift,” with vocals from MiraBelle Rose and Jay Marsh and cello from Rena Jones woven through electronic landscapes that feel sculpted by hand. It’s a record made as an antidote to the noise rather than a contribution to it — proof that technology and humanity can still meet on generous terms.
