Nagelfar Nalkinge

Nagelfar Nalkinge is a project of Swedish pianist Johannes Johansson. Nagelfar is reimagining the music from The Lord of the Rings in a calm and intimate way. The project started out very simply, with Johannes playing the familiar melodies on piano. Over time, however, he slowly began to expand the sound — first introducing soft strings and later adding subtle orchestration around the piano. While the arrangements have become broader and more cinematic over the years, the piano still remains at the heart of the project. Rather than recreating the grandeur of the original soundtrack, Johannes keeps the music peaceful, reflective and understated, focusing more on the feeling and nostalgia of Middle-earth. If you enjoy the piano in these arrangements, feel inspired to see Johannes perform live during one of his regular concerts in Stockholm.
