Glenn Fredly Deviano Latuihamallo (30 September 1975 – 8 April 2020) was one of Indonesia’s legendary musicians. Over 25 years, Glenn Fredly was a singer, songwriter, producer, actor, and advocate for humanity, culture, and Indonesia’s music ecosystem. Glenn Fredly began his musical journey as the vocalist of Funk Section before his successful solo career. With his distinctive voice and emotional songwriting, he became known for songs including “Januari,” “Kasih Putih,” “Akhir Cerita Cinta,” “Sekali Ini Saja,” and “Terserah.” He released 13 albums, including Glenn (1998), Kembali (2000), Selamat Pagi, Dunia! (2003), Christmas Album - Terang (2006), Lovevolution (2010), Luka Cinta & Merdeka (2012), to his final album, Romansa Ke Masa Depan (2019). Glenn Fredly received 11 music awards, including AMI Awards and regional awards in Malaysia and Singapore. His legacy extends through Musik Bagus, a label supporting Indonesia’s music ecosystem, and Bumi Entertainment, which manages his works, IP, and creative legacy. Through Ruma Beta, he championed humanitarian causes and Eastern Indonesian culture, particularly Maluku, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua. His musical legacy continues to be brought to life on stage by The Bakuucakar through the “Glenn Fredly Live by The Bakuucakar” show concept, carrying his music and spirit to audiences across generations. Glenn Fredly passed away on April 8, 2020, leaving a legacy that continues to shape Indonesian music.
