Maiday

Maiday came to everyones attention in 2012 when she collaborated with electronic producer Jakwob, on the sublime UK top 40 single “Fade”. Two years later, a glimpse of her solo music surfaced online with the powerful “Wish You’d Met Me first”, pricking the ears of every tastemaker blog around the world and reaching the #1 spot on Hype Machine. Picking up fans across the blogosphere and support from BBC Radio 1 DJ’s such as Mistajam and Huw Stephens, music lovers were excited to get their ears around more music from the still somewhat unknown singer-songwriter. Fast forward nearly three years; Maiday appeared out of the blue, this time with a re-focused love affair for music and the lyrically brilliant “I Still Get To You”. This was followed by the equally brilliant “Some Hard Feelings” – a soulful head-bop offering, brooding with a bassline that wouldn’t feel out of place in a Salaam Remi production. Touching on her track record for penning songs for others, you may be familiar with her words and melodies on songs by the likes of Bastille, Leona Lewis, Naughty Boy, Girls Aloud and UK Rapper Wretch 32 (whose 2011 UK Number 1 “Don’t Go” was a gold certified single and Maidays first ever writing/production credit). More recently, she co-wrote and co-produced “At My Best” the Hailee Steinfield assisted single for Machine Gun Kelly, continuing to add to her list of song writing accolades.
