Bokang Ramatlapeng

Bokang Ramatlapeng is a South African jazz vocalist rooted in African heritage, storytelling, and emotional truth. Born in Johannesburg with deep ties to Lesotho, she carries both her urban upbringing and her ancestral lineage into her music. Her sound blends African jazz, soul, R&B, and neo-soul, and is deeply personal—often exploring themes of matriarchy, love, loss, healing, and identity as a Sesotho woman. Her work moves between grief and freedom, as heard in The Plea, a song that reflects questioning, pain, and spiritual searching. Through her voice, she creates space for both vulnerability and release. Bokang is a recipient of the Best Jazz Artist and Best Jazz Song awards at the Mzantsi Jazz Awards, and continues to grow as a voice that honours where she comes from while becoming who she is.
