Selena Mara

Selena Mara creates a magical vibe with her original Celtic Indie Folk songs. From earthy and enchanting, to fun and funky, Selena’s music is entertaining and uplifting. She spins evocative tales of the ancient ways and traditions of the land of Albion. Her exquisite voice charms your ears, while she keeps your foot tapping with bouncy mandolin and accordion playing. Selena’s songwriting is infused with, and grounded in, her experiences of 20 years of living on the land and the grassroots environmental direct action movement. I got into playing music while camping on the land to protect it from destruction. We sang and played music for hope and defiance. This sparked my singing, songwriting and mandolin playing. I walked around the Westcountry (UK) for 7 years with a group of 30-odd young rebellious folks, with handcarts, goats, donkeys and benders. We were known as the Dongas Tribe. We celebrated the seasonal festivals and full moons at many beautiful ancient sacred sites, with original and traditional acoustic music. Eventually I settled in a low impact community in Devon. I’ve written dozens of songs that tell the tales of this magical life path that inspired me so much. I love the way people say my music affects them - one of my favourite quotes is: 'Selena's songs arise from the spirit of the land and fill your soul with earth medicine'.
