Addiction

Pioneers of Europe’s nu-metal wave, Addiction (formerly Addiction 96 and Addiction Crew) emerged in 1996 with a sound that fused raw emotion, heavy grooves, and melodic hooks. Known for their intense, high-energy live shows, the band quickly gained traction as one of the earliest European acts shaping what would become the nu-metal movement. Their discography spans four albums — Just to Hurt (1996), Doubt the Dosage (2001), Break in Life (2005), and Lethal (2008). The breakout record Doubt the Dosage earned worldwide attention, featuring Igor Cavalera (Sepultura) on the track “Inside,” a collaboration that followed guitarist/co-vocalist Alex Guadagnoli’s audition with Sepultura. The single “Download” became a nu-metal staple, with its video in rotation on MTV. Signed to Earache Records, Addiction reached strong positions on rock charts across Europe and Japan. From 1998 to 2008, Addiction toured throughout Italy and Europe before going on hiatus in 2009.
