Biography & Metadata
Gerald Peregrine is a critically acclaimed cellist, performing as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician. Born to a large musical family in Dublin, Gerald performs in Europe, Asia, and America and regularly appears on radio, TV and film soundtracks. Gerald studied with William Pleeth before attending the Royal College of Music under Steven Doane, completing his studies as a prestigious Fulbright scholar at Indiana University with Janos Starker and Emilio Colon. Gerald has performed as Soloist for the Queen and the Pope. He has performed/recorded with a wide variety of artists such as Brian Wilson, Bono, Sinead O Connor, Niamh Kavanagh, Mary Coughlan, Steve Cooney, Marty Pellow, Katie Melua, Rosey Chan Jamiroqui, Eimear Quinn, The Chieftans, Clannad, James Blunt. As a soloist/ chamber musician, Gerald has performed in major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Centre, Tchaikovsky Hall, Moscow, the Great Hall Beijing, Cadogan Hall London. Gerald's debut solo album Folk Tales was released on Naxos UK in 2019, reaching no. 10 on the Official UK Classical album charts & was album of the week on Classic FM, with 20 million streams on Spotify. Folk Tales vol 2 was released by Naxos in May 2024 and was also Classic FM, Lyric FM, and Scala radio's album of the week. In May 2020, Gerald established Covid Care Concerts & organised over 2,500 live concerts in healthcare settings providing employment to 100 of Ireland's finest artists performing to 180,000 people.
