Marley Carroll’s exquisitely detailed atmospheric dance music is adored by fans for its powerful emotional resonance and highly rated by peers who cite him as an abiding influence, evoking comparisons to genre luminaries like Four Tet and Caribou. Onstage, he delivers a raw and improvisatory adaptation of his records to spellbound audiences, combining sampling, drum pads and live looping with expressive turntable skills. He has shared stages with Floating Points, Bonobo and DJ Shadow and has notched appearances at iconic music festivals like Coachella and LiB. His 2022 EP Voices was inspired by the heartache of missing raving during lockdown and combined the driving intensity of the dance floor with the luminous nostalgia of late-night afters. Voices captured the attention of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, Radio Ibiza, KCRW and KEXP and became a dance floor staple and essential listening for fans of artists like DJ Seinfeld and Godford. In September 2024, he returned with One More Year on Anjunadeep’s Explorations imprint. Later that month, Hurricane Helene devastated his hometown of Asheville, NC. What was poised to be a global breakout suddenly became a profound waypoint for transformation. This introspective environment provided the substrate for his new EP, Southern Research Station. Named after the natural resources research outpost a few miles from his home studio, SRS finds Carroll returning to the natural world, a perennial source of inspiration and creative refuge.
