Biography & Metadata
Roots of Quiet is the ambient project of Kevin Ciardo, an Italian-Belgian ambient artist and sound designer based near Brussels. His music is slow, minimal, and immersive, shaped by subtle textures, spacious harmonies, and carefully evolving structures. While calm on the surface, the compositions unfold gradually, creating a quiet sense of narrative and progression without relying on dramatic shifts or heavy gestures. Influenced by artists such as Antarctic Wastelands, Loscil, Alaskan Tapes, Be Still the Earth, Six Missing, and Jon Hopkins, Roots of Quiet moves between textural ambient pieces, gentle piano motifs, and long, atmospheric tones. Kevin designs most of his sounds himself and records his own field recordings, using them sparingly to support a sense of place and presence. Self-taught and driven by a long-standing need to create, Roots of Quiet emerged when Kevin chose to focus on making music in a more authentic way — creating for the sake of the process itself, while allowing the work to evolve naturally over time. All music is entirely human-made, with no AI-generated sounds or compositions involved. Roots of Quiet has released music with Ambient Soundscapes and Echoes In The Valley, Silent Sonic Records, Valley View Records, Slow Echo, and Echoes Blue, alongside ongoing collaborations.
