Biography & Metadata
There’s a moment in every artist’s life when the choice comes down to a simple ultimatum: keep wearing the mask that built your career, or rip it off and figure out who’s actually underneath. For London-based alt-pop artist Serra Marinheiro, that breaking point hit after years of grinding inside the major label machine. She’d landed the big industry backing, only for the person making the music to quietly disappear between boardrooms and constant compromises. So, she packed up her life, moved to London, and walked away. Serra Marinheiro isn't just a new stage name. It's pulled straight from her family's home village in Portugal and her grandfather’s old restaurant. Over the past year, she holed up with a tight-knit crew of her closest friends and producer Matt Ingram (Laura Marling , The Staves ) to craft a project built on raw, cinematic piano lines, soaring vocals, and an explosive, cathartic energy...a sound for fans of Florence + The Machine , London Grammar and Tori Amos. The result is a collection of dark, sweeping pop songs about queer identity, autonomy, and the truths she’s spent her entire life trying to say. After years of hiding behind a version of herself designed not to disturb the universe, Serra is finally ready to let you hear the scream.
