Mpho.Wav

Mpho Gift Mohlong, born in Orange Farm, South Africa, is known professionally as Mpho.Wav — a South African Afro-house artist, producer, vocalist and DJ. He built his foundation as a session musician, sharing stages with gospel singer Lebo Sekgobela and the late Ray Phiri of Stimela. In 2020, Sun-EL Musician took notice of his production work, bringing him into the EL World Music stable. He collaborated with Brenden Praise, Nobuhle and Msaki before releasing his debut EP, In the Den (2021). In 2022, Mpho.Wav launched his solo artistry with "Moya," featuring Brenden Praise. His 2024 debut album, Book of Wav, fused Afro-house, jazz, gospel, soul and electronic music — a defining career moment. He followed with his first European run, a set at Ultra Music Festival Johannesburg, and a South African Music Award for Remix of the Year for his rework of Bongeziwe Mabandla's "Hlala."
