Sigrid Moldestad

Sigrid Moldestad is one of Norway’s most distinctive folk musicians and singer-songwriters, known for her expressive voice, masterful fiddle playing, and her ability to bridge tradition with contemporary sound. “Folk Musician of the Year” (2010) Rooted in the rich folk traditions of Breim in Northwestern Norway, Moldestad has developed a unique musical language where Nordic folk meets elements of singer-songwriter, acoustic pop, and folk rock. Her music carries a rare balance of beautiful melancholy and playful energy, shaped by strong storytelling and a deep connection to place, identity, and lived experience. Since her award-winning debut album “Taus” (2007), which earned her a Norwegian Grammy (Spellemann Award), she has released a series of critically acclaimed albums and established herself as a leading voice in modern Nordic folk. Her ninth album, “Vegane vi vandrar” (2026), is a deeply personal and mature work featuring 15 original songs—an honest reflection on life, belonging, and the paths we take. Based in Bergen, Moldestad tours extensively with her band, delivering powerful live performances marked by warmth, presence, and musical depth. Moldestad is also well known for her duo collaborations in the project Spindel together with Liv Merete Kroken. Their close musical interplay and deep roots in traditional fiddle music have made them respected and beloved within Norwegian folk.
