Biography & Metadata
Weaving timeless pop melodies with sultry Latin grooves and cinematic jazz textures, Riva's cosmopolitan collection of songs blends the cool sophistication of Astrud Gilberto and Sade with contemporary sensibility. "This music is me letting go," says Taylor. "Latin rhythms gave me space to reconnect with a more intuitive side of my artistry. These songs are cinematic, but grounded in real emotion." Drawing on golden-era elegance reminiscent of Bacharach and Streisand (whom Taylor supported at British Summer Time Hyde Park) the EP creates a fresh sound that feels both timeless and forward-looking. From bossa-drenched "Great Unknown" to haunting "Valentine Road," her work feels simultaneously vintage and current. After evolving from child prodigy to contemporary pop artist, championed by Sir Elton John, Taylor has embraced cross-cultural collaboration. Recorded with Marcus Foster (Ellie Goulding, GIVĒON) and building on work in Mexico City, the result reflects her deepening connection to Latin culture and jazz roots. Latest releases build on her breakthrough "Cubano," her 2023 collaboration with Los Rumberos that became a Mexican hit, opening doors to a musical language blending English lyricism with bossa nova, cumbia, and rumba. "Working across cultures has been the most liberating experience of my career," Taylor reflects. "This is a homecoming to a version of myself I hadn't fully met."
