Biography & Metadata

The Matthew Shadley Band is a guitar-driven indie/alt-rock group led by songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Matthew Shadley Brauer. Blending the spirit of classic ’70s album rock with the energy of ’90s/'00s alternative and modern studio craft, the band has earned praise from outlets including the Cincinnati Post, Dayton Daily News, CityBeat, Music Mecca, Voxwave, and Music & Fashion for its melodic songwriting, layered arrangements, and evolving sonic ambition. Formed in Cincinnati in 2003, the band built an early regional following through club shows and festival appearances while releasing the EP Five Easy Pieces (2004), the live album Underneath the Red Light (2005), and Summer Stone (2008). After a hiatus, Brauer relocated to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and reignited the project with a series of acclaimed releases that expanded the band’s sound and scope. Recent albums—including Emerald (2022), 1970 Something (2023), Shaka (2024), Preternatural Dreams (2025), and The Great Divide (2026)—have showcased a dynamic blend of guitar-driven rock, cinematic textures, and melodic storytelling. The latest album, Satellite Sky, marks a departure from the guitar-driven rock roots into cinematic post-rock, psychedelia, and dream pop. Matthew Shadley Band Matthew Shadley Band - Anthology
