Biography & Metadata
Led by Alex Calabrese, Worcester-based folk project, Old Tom & The Lookouts blend the introspective grit of Americana with the emotional rawness of Indie-Rock. Known for their brooding lyrics and powerful storytelling, the band explores themes of mental health, love, and resilience. Drawing influences from artists like Counting Crows, The Band, and Brandi Carlile, Calabrese’s evocative vocals and poignant songwriting strike a chord with listeners searching for authenticity and emotional depth. Old Tom & The Lookouts have performed at notable venues such as Club Passim (MA), Music Hall Lounge (NH), The Press Room (NH), City Winery (MA, PA, NY, TN), and Skylark Lounge (CO). Diving into their Americana/Folk, Indie-Rock, and Punk roots, the band released their latest record, Northeastern in 2024. This album ushered in the energy of a full band and several new members. With Adam Soucy on drums, Troy Fannin on guitar, and Andrew Davis and Brandon Downs on bass, the band evolved into what feels like their most dynamic and actualized lineup yet. Indie Pulse Music called Northeastern, "upbeat, tonally deliberate, and lyrically poignant." While EARMILK says, "Old Tom & The Lookouts doesn't sugarcoat the realities of life in the Northeast. But they presented it. Scars and everything. Set against the backdrop of a tragic but hopeful American melody." Taking this all in, the band considers this their best work to date.
