Biography & Metadata

From Cleveland, OH, with stints in Brooklyn, NY and Brighton, England, Darling Waste spent almost 20 years independently recording, releasing, and diy touring their unique brand of emotionally honest songs, that oftern blurred the line between indie alternative and third-wave emo. Singer-songwriter Lance Waste started the band as a solo project in 2003, performing DIY shows around his native Cleveland, Ohio. His single “Changing Of The Seasons” was picked up by local radio and soon caught fire, being added to rotation on over 100 stations. He would regularly spend up to seven months a year tour self booked tours of the U.S. and U.K. with a rotating cast of friends filling out the live band. Darling Waste played over 900 full band shows and 300 solo shows in 11 countries. They quickly became one of the prominent underground acts of the mid-2000s indie emo scene, racking up over 1 million plays on Myspace.com while performing with acts like Blink-182, Fallout Boy, Panic ! At The Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Hawthorne Heights, The Ataris, Yellowcard, and Bayside. Darling Waste’s music has been featured featured on MTV, VH1, HBO, Showtime, and in feature films. You can currently catch Lance and Jaime retelling Darling Waste's story, song by song, on their weekly podcast The Insignificants: An Oral History of Darling Waste, available on Spotify and YouTube.
