Biography & Metadata

MÄRLA is a Swedish band playing instrumental jazz-rock-funk-groove-fusion. Founded 2025 they've just started their journey, displaying original compositions that draw inspiration from classic 1970s groove based jazz-rock-funk-fusion albums. The basic recipe is: Electric guitar, Fender Rhodes, electric bass, and drums/percussion. "Too funky for prog. Too uncomplicated for jazz." Visit märla.se Debut Album: "Don't Say That" with guests Klas Toresson, flute, saxophone, Dima Faustov, horns, Michael Barry, hammond. SECOND Album "Instant Regret", with guest musicians Klas Toresson, soprano sax on "Midnight Marketplace" and Jens Henriksson, trumpet on "Jezze All Smiles". MÄRLA is Swedish for “staple” — a small metal clamp or fastening device. Good to have when you need to nail a groove and some weird solos to the floor. The band: Johan Nilsson (guitar), Ann Blom (keys), Samuel Nilsson (bass), Gustav Vikström Seltman (drums).
