Tony Grey

Tony Grey is a world-renowned bassist, composer, and producer known for his groundbreaking 6-string electric bass technique and a body of work that moves fluidly between jazz, world music, and fusion. Born in Newcastle, England, and trained at Berklee College of Music, where he graduated with the school's Outstanding Performer award, Tony has spent his career collaborating with some of the most respected names in music, including John McLaughlin, Hiromi, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Mike Stern, Dennis Chambers, Bill Evans, Brian Blade, and Mino Cinelu. Beyond performing, Tony is a published author and award winning music educator, known for a teaching philosophy that has shaped a new generation of bassists. His new album, Nostalgia, releases July 24 and features a very special guest, legendary jazz funk pianist and composer Bob James. The record also brings together V. Selvaganesh, Naveen Kumar, Mino Cinelu, and Karsh Kale, and will be distributed by The Orchard / Sony Music.
